It's a common problem that many people struggle with, but there are ways to stop overthinking and negative thoughts. In this topic, we will explore some strategies and techniques that can help us break the cycle of overthinking and negative thoughts, and learn how to think more positively and constructively. We will discuss the importance of mindfulness, self-awareness, and self-compassion, and explore techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, journaling, and physical exercise to help us manage and overcome negative thoughts. We will also explore the role of therapy and medication in treating overthinking and negative thoughts. The goal of this topic is to provide you with the tools you need to take control of your thoughts and improve your overall well-being.

Everything depends on the perspective we see and the way we think. For example see this story and you will understand better.

The story 1

One situation and two experiences:

Two friends are talking like this in an office. One of them asked if it was your wedding day yesterday and how did you enjoy it. To which she replied, yesterday evening when i went home from office the whole house was dark. Then my husband lit some candles and wished me well in that light. Later we both went to the hotel for dinner where we ordered all my favourites. Full moon light (Vennela) was very nice when she came out after happy dinner. We refused to take a cab and walked home from the hotel talking nicely in the moonlight. So, she told her friend that our wedding day ended very happily, then her friend got very jealous hearing her words.
Now in another office their husband and his friend are talking about the wedding day that happened yesterday. Their husband is telling his friend yesterday my wedding day was very bad, I never expected it to be this bad. Yesterday evening, the electricity was cut due to non-payment of the electricity bill. Everything was dark, i lit candles. And should i cook on my wedding day too? She quarreled with me that she would not cook and took me to the hotel. She was angry with me and ordered all her favorite food and ate it heartily. The bill was high and the money brought was not enough. We walked home from there and he kept telling his friend how bad it was.
You see, same situation but two different experiences. Wife spent her wedding day very happily but her husband was very disappointed. Sometimes overthinking leads to anger and vice versa. At times like these, Anger Management is essential. If you think something is easy, it is easy or if you think it is difficult, it is difficult. And if you feel something happy, it is happy or if you feel sad, it is sad. Everything depends on the way we think and the way we see.

How to deal with overthinking?

1. Only focus on good things

The story 2 :

Two friends are talking and walking in the desert. At one point during their journey they both had a heated argument. Then one friend slapped another friend on the cheek, and immediately the injured friend wrote in the sand, "Today my friend slapped me on the cheek." And they began to walk until oriasis appeared. They stopped at an oasis to wash their feet, hands and face. Then the injured friend got stuck in the mire. He was in great danger and cried out in great fear. Then his friend saved him from the mire. After he survived the accident he wrote on a rock, "Today my best friend saved my life."
His friend who struck him on the cheek and saved his life asked very curiously: After I struck you on the cheek you wrote on sand and now after I'm saving your life you wrote on stone. why? Then another friend replied, ''When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But if anyone does us any good, it must be engraved in stone".
Both good things and bad things happen in our life but we should always focus on the good things. So, always focus on good things.

2. Don't think about the result

A boy said to the horse, 'I don't see a way'. Then the horse can you see the next step? it asked. Immediately the boy replied yes i can see. Then the horse said that is enough.
                                        -Charlie Mackesy

The result is never in our hands, the effort we
put in for the result is in our hands. We should never think about what is out of our hands, think about what we can do and make it perfect. Even Lord Krishna said in Bhagavad Gita to do that and leave the result to me. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has said many times that this is the secret of his success. So, always focus on the process.

Dealing with overthinking can be challenging, but there are some strategies that may be helpful:
  • Practice mindfulness: being present in the moment and focusing on your breath can help bring you out of a spiral of overthinking.
  • Get moving: physical activity can be a great way to clear your mind and release pent-up energy.
  • Challenge negative thoughts: try to identify and challenge negative thoughts that are driving your overthinking.
  • Keep a journal: writing down your thoughts can help you process them and gain perspective on them.
  • Connect with others: talking to a friend or therapist can help you gain a different perspective on your thoughts.
  • Practice relaxation techniques: techniques such as yoga, meditation, and deep breathing can help you relax and reduce stress.
  • Set boundaries: set limits on the amount of time you spend overthinking, and engage in activities that help you relax and distract you from overthinking.
Remember that it's normal to overthink sometimes, but if it's affecting your daily life, it's important to seek support.
